Detoxification
Detoxification in general, is the process of removal of toxic substances from the body. There are a number of Detox Therapies, which include Nutritional Therapy, Supplemental Therapy, Chelation Therapy, Homeopathy, and Body Therapies, such as Cranio Sacral. Selecting an approach should be done after discussions with the child's doctor. It is confusing for parents to read many of the comments in the mainstream media about autism and other neurological disorders ("NDs"). Typically, these NDs are described as having "no known cause and no known cure" and any link between vaccines and NDs is typically said to have been "disproven". In fact, the evidence supporting the position that NDs are environmental illnesses with vaccines as a primary trigger is well documented, published in peer-reviewed journals, and growing every day. Detoxification TherapiesNutritional Therapy: Nutritional Therapy is the process of improving diet to it's highest level to positively impact physical and neurological function and restore metabolic balance. These changes greatly influence daily life skill function of the child and ability to learn as well as physical comfort. Supplemental Therapy: A therapeutic supplemental protocol typically consists of supplementing nutrients for the purposes of detoxification, metabolic support, a rebalancing of gut flora, neurotransmitter support, the rebalancing of yeast overgrowth if needed, and the restoration of methylation. These protocols may include herbal formulas for control of fungi, parasites and bacteria, probiotics for the gut, amino acids for neuro strengthening and supports such as multi vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids for metabolic rebalancing and cellular health. Chelation Therapy: Chelation therapy is the administration of chelating agents to remove heavy metals from the body. For the most common forms of heavy metal intoxication, those involving lead, arsenic or mercury, the standard of care in the USA dictates the use of DMSA. Other chelating agents, such as DMPS and alpha lipoic acid (ALA), are used in conventional and alternative medicine. "We are in the midst of a group of new childhood epidemics... related to pollution, environmental degradation and toxicity." Kenneth Bock, MD Homeopathy: Homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine that aims to treat "like with like". It was invented in the late 18th century by German physician Samuel Hahnemann. Substances, which in large quantities would cause symptoms similar to the disease, are administered in heavily diluted formulations, with shaking at each stage of the dilution. Homeopaths contend that the shaking causes some imprint (or memory) of the diluted substance upon the medium (usually water or alcohol), thus enabling it to treat the patient, even though in many common homeopathic dilutions no molecules of the original substance are likely to remain. Homeopathy is based on a vitalist world view, which sees the underlying causes of sickness as imbalances in a hypothetical vital force. Proponents claim that homeopathic treatment can harmonize and re-balance the vital force in the body, thus restoring health. These claims are unsupported by modern biology or medicine. Craniosacral Therapy: Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. |
